Then, O sage, from the pore of the Lord of Goloka—
By form, by virtue, by attire, or by valor,
From the pores of Rādhā's body arose the cowherd maidens.
Adorned with jeweled ornaments, they possessed ever-firm and youthful beauty.
Meanwhile, O Brahmin, suddenly from Kṛṣṇa's body—
The goddess Nārāyaṇī, sovereign, embodiment of all powers,
Seed-form of all goddesses, the primal nature, the supreme Lady,
With the radiance of molten gold, shining like ten million suns,

Bearing many kinds of weapons and missiles, she was three-eyed.

Bestower of all prosperity to those who desire, to householders,
Giver of liberation to the seekers of freedom, giver of happiness to the happy,
She is austerity among ascetics, beauty among kings,
She is the very form of splendor in the moon, and is most beautiful among lotuses.
By whom the self is empowered, and by whom indeed the world is endowed with power,
She who is the eternal seed-form of the tree of worldly existence,
Hunger, thirst, compassion, faith, sleep, drowsiness, forgiveness, fortitude—
She, having been praised, stood before the Lord of all.
Meanwhile, there appeared there the Four-faced One, together with his wife.
Bearing a water-pot, glorious, an ascetic, foremost among the wise.
She was fair of form, most beautiful, radiant like a hundred moons.
Seated upon a splendid jeweled throne, she was praised as the cause of all things.
At that very moment, Krishna became manifest in two forms.
One was clear as pure crystal, shining with the brilliance of ten million suns.
The other had the hue of molten gold, bearing matted locks, transcendent.
Clad in the directions alone, blue-throated, adorned with serpents as ornaments.
Chanting with five faces, he was the eternal light of Brahman.
He is the cause of all causes, the most auspicious among all that is auspicious.
Having been praised as Death of death, he became known as Mṛtyuñjaya.
Śrī Nārāyaṇa said: Then, at the proper time, he suddenly became twofold in form.
