तस्य वज्रः क्रन्दति स्मत्स्वर्षा दिवो न त्वेषो रवथः शिमीवान् । तं सचन्ते सनयस्तं धनानि मरुत्वान्नो भवत्विन्द्र ऊती
His thunderbolt roars, raining down in our battle, like the resounding voice of the sky, full of might; to him the treasures come, to him the riches, O Indra, accompanied by the Maruts, may you be our protector.
यस्याजस्रं शवसा मानमुक्थं परिभुजद्रोदसी विश्वतः सीम् । स पारिषत्क्रतुभिर्मन्दसानो मरुत्वान्नो भवत्विन्द्र ऊती
He whose measureless power and praise the two worlds ever encompass on all sides, he who is gladdened by offerings, O Indra, accompanied by the Maruts, may you be our protector.
न यस्य देवा देवता न मर्ता आपश्चन शवसो अन्तमापुः । स प्ररिक्वा त्वक्षसा क्ष्मो दिवश्च मरुत्वान्नो भवत्विन्द्र ऊती
He whose might neither gods nor mortals nor even the waters have reached the end of, he who with his force stretches earth and sky, O Indra, accompanied by the Maruts, may you be our protector.
रोहिच्छ्यावा सुमदंशुर्ललामीर्द्युक्षा राय ऋज्राश्वस्य । वृषण्वन्तं बिभ्रती धूर्षु रथं मन्द्रा चिकेत नाहुषीषु विक्षु
Bright and tawny, delighting, adorned, yoked to the wealth of Ṛjrāśva, bearing the strong chariot with stallions at the yoke, the gracious one is mindful among the tribes of the Nāhus.
एतत्त्यत्त इन्द्र वृष्ण उक्थं वार्षागिरा अभि गृणन्ति राधः । ऋज्राश्वः प्रष्टिभिरम्बरीषः सहदेवो भयमानः सुराधाः
This praise, O Indra, the strong, is uttered for you; with the song of Vārṣāgira they celebrate your bounty: Ṛjrāśva with his companions, Ambarīṣa, Sahadeva, Bhayamāna, the generous ones.
दस्यूञ्छिम्यूँश्च पुरुहूत एवैर्हत्वा पृथिव्यां शर्वा नि बर्हीत् । सनत्क्षेत्रं सखिभिः श्वित्न्येभिः सनत्सूर्यं सनदपः सुवज्रः
O much-invoked one, having slain the Dasyus and the Śimyus with your companions, you have made the earth peaceful, O mighty one; with your shining friends you have secured the field, the sun, and the waters, O strong-armed one.
विश्वाहेन्द्रो अधिवक्ता नो अस्त्वपरिह्वृताः सनुयाम वाजम् । तन्नो मित्रो वरुणो मामहन्तामदितिः सिन्धुः पृथिवी उत द्यौः
May Indra be the advocate for us in all things, may we win the prize unharmed; may Mitra, Varuṇa, Aditi, the river, the earth, and the sky not harm us.
प्र मन्दिने पितुमदर्चता वचो यः कृष्णगर्भा निरहन्नृजिश्वना । अवस्यवो वृषणं वज्रदक्षिणं मरुत्वन्तं सख्याय हवामहे
Sing forth your speech to the gladdened father, who, with Ṛjiśvan, slew the black wombed one; we call the mighty one, with the thunderbolt in his right hand, accompanied by the Maruts, for friendship.
यो व्यंसं जाहृषाणेन मन्युना यः शम्बरं यो अहन्पिप्रुमव्रतम् । इन्द्रो यः शुष्णमशुषं न्यावृणङ्मरुत्वन्तं सख्याय हवामहे
He who, with joyful spirit, slew Vyamsa, who killed Śambara, who destroyed Pipru the lawless; Indra who cast down Śuṣṇa the arid, we call, accompanied by the Maruts, for friendship.
यस्य द्यावापृथिवी पौंस्यं महद्यस्य व्रते वरुणो यस्य सूर्यः । यस्येन्द्रस्य सिन्धवः सश्चति व्रतं मरुत्वन्तं सख्याय हवामहे
He whose great manliness is the sky and earth, whose command is Varuṇa, whose is the sun; Indra, whose law the rivers follow, we call, accompanied by the Maruts, for friendship.
यो अश्वानां यो गवां गोपतिर्वशी य आरितः कर्मणिकर्मणि स्थिरः । वीळोश्चिदिन्द्रो यो असुन्वतो वधो मरुत्वन्तं सख्याय हवामहे
He who is the lord of horses and cattle, the generous one, who is swift in action and firm in deed; Indra, who is the slayer even of the wealthy who do not offer, we call, accompanied by the Maruts, for friendship.
यो विश्वस्य जगतः प्राणतस्पतिर्यो ब्रह्मणे प्रथमो गा अविन्दत् । इन्द्रो यो दस्यूँरधराँ अवातिरन्मरुत्वन्तं सख्याय हवामहे
He who is the lord of all that moves and breathes, who first found the cows for the priest; Indra, who cast down the Dasyus and the lawless, we call, accompanied by the Maruts, for friendship.
यः शूरेभिर्हव्यो यश्च भीरुभिर्यो धावद्भिर्हूयते यश्च जिग्युभिः । इन्द्रं यं विश्वा भुवनाभि संदधुर्मरुत्वन्तं सख्याय हवामहे
He who is invoked by the brave and by the fearful, who is called by the swift and by those who seek victory; Indra, whom all beings have joined, we call, accompanied by the Maruts, for friendship.
रुद्राणामेति प्रदिशा विचक्षणो रुद्रेभिर्योषा तनुते पृथु ज्रयः । इन्द्रं मनीषा अभ्यर्चति श्रुतं मरुत्वन्तं सख्याय हवामहे
He who is wise in the directions of the Rudras, who with the Rudras spreads wide the generations; Indra, whom thought praises, the famed one, we call, accompanied by the Maruts, for friendship.
यद्वा मरुत्वः परमे सधस्थे यद्वावमे वृजने मादयासे । अत आ याह्यध्वरं नो अच्छा त्वाया हविश्चकृमा सत्यराधः
Whether, O Marut-accompanied one, you rejoice in the highest seat or in the lower assembly, from there come to our sacrifice; for you we have prepared the offering, O true-giver.
त्वायेन्द्र सोमं सुषुमा सुदक्ष त्वाया हविश्चकृमा ब्रह्मवाहः । अधा नियुत्वः सगणो मरुद्भिरस्मिन्यज्ञे बर्हिषि मादयस्व
For you, O Indra, we have pressed the Soma, O skillful one; for you we have prepared the offering, O leader of prayers; then, with your troop, together with the Maruts, rejoice at this sacrifice on the sacred grass.
मादयस्व हरिभिर्ये त इन्द्र वि ष्यस्व शिप्रे वि सृजस्व धेने । आ त्वा सुशिप्र हरयो वहन्तूशन्हव्यानि प्रति नो जुषस्व
Rejoice, O Indra, with your bays; expand your cheeks, let the streams flow forth. Let your fine-cheeked steeds bring you here; graciously accept our offerings.
मरुत्स्तोत्रस्य वृजनस्य गोपा वयमिन्द्रेण सनुयाम वाजम् । तन्नो मित्रो वरुणो मामहन्तामदितिः सिन्धुः पृथिवी उत द्यौः
May we, with Indra, win strength as guardians of the Marut-praised assembly. May Mitra, Varuṇa, Aditi, the River, Earth, and Heaven not harm us.
इमां ते धियं प्र भरे महो महीमस्य स्तोत्रे धिषणा यत्त आनजे । तमुत्सवे च प्रसवे च सासहिमिन्द्रं देवासः शवसामदन्ननु
I bring forth this thought for you, O mighty one, for the great praise of your greatness, as inspired by Dhiṣaṇā. In festival and in striving, the gods have found Indra, strong in might, to be victorious.
अस्य श्रवो नद्यः सप्त बिभ्रति द्यावाक्षामा पृथिवी दर्शतं वपुः । अस्मे सूर्याचन्द्रमसाभिचक्षे श्रद्धे कमिन्द्र चरतो वितर्तुरम्
The seven rivers bear his fame; heaven and earth display his wondrous form. For us, the sun and moon look on with favor; O Indra, move faithfully among those who act with devotion.
तं स्मा रथं मघवन्प्राव सातये जैत्रं यं ते अनुमदाम संगमे । आजा न इन्द्र मनसा पुरुष्टुत त्वायद्भ्यो मघवञ्छर्म यच्छ नः
Drive that chariot, O bountiful one, for our success—the victorious one which we approve in the contest. Like horses, O Indra, praised by many, grant us your protection against our foes.
वयं जयेम त्वया युजा वृतमस्माकमंशमुदवा भरेभरे । अस्मभ्यमिन्द्र वरिवः सुगं कृधि प्र शत्रूणां मघवन्वृष्ण्या रुज
With you as our ally, may we conquer in battle; may our share rise in every contest. For us, O Indra, make the path easy; break the strength of our enemies, O bountiful, mighty one.
नाना हि त्वा हवमाना जना इमे धनानां धर्तरवसा विपन्यवः । अस्माकं स्मा रथमा तिष्ठ सातये जैत्रं हीन्द्र निभृतं मनस्तव
For you, different peoples call in their invocations, seeking wealth, O holder of riches, with various thoughts. Stand by our chariot for victory; O Indra, your steady mind is triumphant.
गोजिता बाहू अमितक्रतुः सिमः कर्मन्कर्मञ्छतमूतिः खजंकरः । अकल्प इन्द्रः प्रतिमानमोजसाथा जना वि ह्वयन्ते सिषासवः
With arms victorious over cows, of boundless resolve, a lion in deed, a hundredfold helper, breaker of obstacles—Indra is unmatched in strength; thus, people desiring success call upon him.
उत्ते शतान्मघवन्नुच्च भूयस उत्सहस्राद्रिरिचे कृष्टिषु श्रवः । अमात्रं त्वा धिषणा तित्विषे मह्यधा वृत्राणि जिघ्नसे पुरंदर
O bountiful Indra, you have gained hundreds, you have gained thousands of renowned glories among peoples. Inspired, Dhiṣaṇā has set you beyond measure, so you, destroyer of cities, strike down the foes.
त्रिविष्टिधातु प्रतिमानमोजसस्तिस्रो भूमीर्नृपते त्रीणि रोचना । अतीदं विश्वं भुवनं ववक्षिथाशत्रुरिन्द्र जनुषा सनादसि
Your strength, O king, is set in the threefold realm; three earths, three lights you have established. You have embraced this whole world; O Indra, you are unconquered from birth.
त्वां देवेषु प्रथमं हवामहे त्वं बभूथ पृतनासु सासहिः । सेमं नः कारुमुपमन्युमुद्भिदमिन्द्रः कृणोतु प्रसवे रथं पुरः
Among the gods, we call upon you first; you have been victorious in battles. May Indra make this chariot of ours, which bursts forth with energy, lead us in the contest, overcoming the foe.
त्वं जिगेथ न धना रुरोधिथार्भेष्वाजा मघवन्महत्सु च । त्वामुग्रमवसे सं शिशीमस्यथा न इन्द्र हवनेषु चोदय
You conquer, and no riches restrain you; in youth and in great deeds, O bountiful one. We seek you, the mighty, for help; so, O Indra, urge us on in the invocations.
विश्वाहेन्द्रो अधिवक्ता नो अस्त्वपरिह्वृताः सनुयाम वाजम् । तन्नो मित्रो वरुणो मामहन्तामदितिः सिन्धुः पृथिवी उत द्यौः
May Indra be our advocate in all matters; may we win strength without being overcome. May Mitra, Varuṇa, Aditi, the River, Earth, and Heaven not harm us.
तत्त इन्द्रियं परमं पराचैरधारयन्त कवयः पुरेदम् । क्षमेदमन्यद्दिव्यन्यदस्य समी पृच्यते समनेव केतुः
That supreme power of yours, O Indra, the wise of old upheld from afar. One thing is restrained, another shines forth; your sign is seen as if on a level plain.
