Overview
Badrinath is a Himalayan pilgrimage town in Chamoli district, at roughly 3,100–3,300 m, where Vishnu is worshipped as Badrinarayana; it is also called Vishalpuri and Vishnudham. The Badrinath Temple is one of the Char Dham and one of the 108 Divya Desams, and pilgrims bathe in the hot spring of Tapt Kund before darshan. The temple is open about six months a year, from late April or May (around Akshaya Tritiya) to early November; during winter the deity is notionally worshipped at the Narasimha temple in Jyotirmath. For 2026 the doors were announced to open on 23 April; the 2026 closing date had not been found in a fetched source.
