Overview
Tiruchendur is a town in Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu on the shore of the Gulf of Mannar. It is home to the Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple, one of the Six Abodes of Murugan, built by the sea at the traditional site of Murugan's victory over the asura Surapadman. The re-enactment of that victory, Surasamharam, at the close of Kanda Shashti draws very large crowds.
